About the Tara Academy of Irish Dancing
The Tara Academy of Irish Dancing is the creation of the Raney family. Founded in 1994 by Julie and Sara Raney, family involvement in the Tara Academy has grown to include sisters Erin, Mary, Colleen and Brigid, and parents Patrick and Barbara.
From their first steps with one of Seattle's original Irish dancing teachers, Jetta Commins, and on through their studies with Marie Gavaghan and Maureen Keene, ADCRG, the Raneys have always felt the highlight of Irish dancing to be family and community.
In 2003 Tara Academy together with the Baile Glas Irish Dancers cofounded the Emerald City Feis, held every year in April.
The teachers, dancers and families of the Tara Academy are pleased to be a part of the community of Irish dancing in the Pacific Northwest.
Tara Academy of Irish Dance admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarships programs, and other school-administered programs.
